Postal entry exams, explained
Most entry-level postal jobs are filled using one of four online Virtual Entry Assessments (VEAs). Which one you take depends on the job you apply for. You don’t sign up for an exam directly. Depending on the job, you’ll either start the assessment as part of your application or get an email invitation from the official testing vendor. If you get an invitation, you have 72 hours from when it’s sent (not when you open it).

Scoring basics
- 70 is the minimum passing score, but passing does not guarantee selection. Higher-ranked applicants may be considered first.
- If you fail a 474–477 assessment, you may have to wait up to a year to retake that same exam.
- The 474–477 assessments take roughly 30–45 minutes online.
